Your Definitive Guide to Leather Choices

Thinking about purchasing leather furniture for your home and deciding whether to go with synthetic leather or genuine leather? Read below for your definitive guide to leather choices:

PU Synthetic Leather, sometimes known as bicast or bycast leather is made with a layer of polyurethane that is applied to the surface and then embossed. The benefits of this artificial faux leather is that is is easy to clean & maintain as are most plastic materials while giving the appearance of leather. PU Synthetic Leather is an economical choice to give the surface appearance of leather at an affordable price. Whether you choose the PU Synthetic Leather, PU Synthetic Leather, or Full Genuine Leather option, each choice will include a range of PU, PVC, Fabric and Genuine Leather in the making of each sofa.

By selecting the PU Synthetic Leather option your sofa will be made from PU Synthetic Leather. The artificial leather that covers the back frame of the sofa and details like piping & buttons are made from a leatherette PVC. The back portion of the cushions are partially made from polyblend black fabric. The covers are not removable.

While PU Synthetic Leather is easy to maintain, it is a plastic material and is not considered equal to conventional leather as it lacks the strength, breathability and durability of natural leather. By selecting Genuine Leather with PU on the Reverse Side option your sofa’s most used surfaces will utilize Genuine Leather. This includes the upper most surfaces on the back cushions, seat cushions and buttons (i.e. the areas that come in direct contact with a seated body). The remaining parts - piping and sides of cushions and all other parts will be made with a PU/PVC Leatherette. The back portion of the cushions are partially made from polyblend black fabric. The covers are not removable.

Leather is a breathable and durable material that is made by tanning animal rawhide. Our Geniune Leather Sofas utilize top-grain leather. By selecting Full Genuine Leather your sofa’s most used surfaces will utilize Genuine Leather. This includes the upper most surfaces of the back cushions, seat cushions and buttons (i.e. the areas that come in direct contact with a seated body). In addition the sides of the cushions will also be made using Genuine Leather. The back upholstery covering the entirety of the sofa will also be made using Genuine Leather. Piping is made from a PU/PVC Leatherette. The backs portion of the cushions are made from polyblend black fabric. The covers are not removable. Note undersides of sofas are covered with fabric. Extra support pieces like straps are made with PVC.
