Chinese New Year is a Chinese festival that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional Chinese calendar. The festival is usually referred to as the Spring Festival in modern China and is one of several Lunar New Years in Asia.
People will put up Chinese traditional new year decorations, eat reunion dinner with family on New Year's Eve, firecrackers and fireworks (which is banned in Hong Kong FYI), and give red pockets and other gifts to their friends and family members.
